LinkedIn Released An iPad Version For Its Users

LinkedIn, the leading professional social networking website has finally released an iPad app for its subscribers. Although it may seem a bit late since LinkedIn has been around for a while and already have more than 100 million members and iPad has been out for more than 3 years now.

According to LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner, the company has been planning to double its mobile presence by releasing new iPhone apps and android apps and also an HTML 5 mobile version. LinkedIn also is happy with 22 percent of its active members using the mobile device in accessing their website.

LinkedIn’s head of mobile products Joff Redfern made sure that the apps provide a high satisfaction from its user. They wanted to make sure that the app has a leanback experience approach just like the iPad. The app will have an update section where members can stream updates made from their connections like those who changed their jobs and people who viewed your profile to give you idea whether someone is interested with your skills and profession. The app also lets you access news that other members are sharing and see the latest discussions different groups that you joined.

According from the users who tried the app, the best feat of the Linkedin App for iPad is that it lets you sync the ipad’s calendar together with your LinkedIn profile so that meetings and other daily activities will be synchronized and give you a mobile, contextual and better scheduling of your personal and professional activities.

The app is currently released in English language only but in the coming months a multi-language version of the app will also be released. The LinkedIn app is also available in iPhones and Androids though some feature may differ.

Some experts says that this is a good strategy from LinkedIn since the company has a new competitor that is making big buzz in the professional branching site. the website is called BranchOut which just released an App for Facebook and has millions signing up in just a few months.

iPhone sales overshadow the new ipad in Apples earnings

Once again Apple has topped the streets of the world with its estimates for its quarterly earnings for the second quarter. They have brought in strong profits by selling many more iPhones than they ever expected. However this was during the same period that the new ipad was launched and so therefore slightly overshadowed the new products thunder. This resulted in the estimate for the new ipad being more than what was actually taken for its first major selling period.

Apple was reported to have made revenue of $39.2 billion with net earnings of $11.6 billion or $12.30 per share for the quarter which ended on March 31st 2012. This was actually up for the $26.67 billion and net of $5.99 billion, $6.40 per share for the exact same quarter the year before. It has been told that the estimations for this quarter were actually $32.5 billion revenue, with the shares coming in at $8.50, which shows a significant difference. So now for the next quarter ending in June Apple have now predicted revenue of $34 billion with projected earnings of $8.68 per share.

apple

In terms of sales by device Apple sold 35.1 million iPhones during this quarter which flew over Wall Street’s estimate of 30.5 million. This means an increase of over 88 percent over the 18.65 million sold the same time last year but down slightly from the 37 million handsets sold in Apples first ever record breaking quarter. Maybe it had something to do with this being the first full quarter in which the iPhone 4s was available for sale, plus the phone was additionally sold in 22 extra countries including China in early January 2012.

Who owns the files on Google Shared drive?

Google has a new web storage service which has been called Google Drive. It has come under heavy scrutiny over being the owner of many documents being shared on this service. Similar programs like this include the Dropbox and Microsoft’s SkyDrive. However both of these allow you to keep the IP rights to your work as well as have a copyright over the information shared, whereas Google are saying they take everything you own.

Literally hours after Google launched this new online storage centre the service itself and the terms attached have caused a real uproar by the wider community for it being allowed to potentially keep or even own the information, in fact the word harm has been used regarding the users  that Google seek to serve.

google

Dropbox and Microsoft’s SkyDrive are undoubtedly the 2 largest online storage sites on the web so Google have actually arrived late on this front. Google didn’t use any advertising to drum up support as they are such a large company anyway however what many won’t know is that actually once you agree to these terms and conditions for Google Drive the documents will undergo a transition stage. This means that Google will effectively own the files you upload the second they are submitted meaning they can do whatever they like with your files and that’s final.
